Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer, founded in Kandilli Girls Anatolian High School, Prof. Dr. He attended the opening of the Nabi Avcı Library.
In his speech here, Özer said that former Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı made very important contributions during his ministry.
Expressing that the founder of EBA, the digital education platform used by students especially during the pandemic process, is Avcı, Özer emphasized the importance of libraries.
Expressing that one of the best services they did as a ministry in retrospect was to build libraries for all schools, Özer said, “We built 16,361 libraries in three months, we finished them at the end of 2022, and the school without a library did not remain in our education system.” he said.
Pointing out that they have also increased the number of books and digital content in schools significantly, Özer said, “(There will be no school without a library) When we started the project, the number of books in schools in Turkey was 28 million, now it is 118 million 40 thousand. . He’s waiting for them to read.” used the phrase.
Emphasizing that young people grew up in the cultural climate of the geography of their heart, knowing their state, nation and culture, Özer drew attention to the fact that they went through two extraordinary processes during this period.
Reminding that one of them is the Kovid-19 epidemic, Özer continued his words as follows:
“A small doomsday scenario took place in which everyone was in trouble. No one was leaving their home, they cut off relations. Your teachers, disregarding their lives, delivered aid in the field in loyalty groups organized by governorships and district governorships. they produced the face shield and delivered it to the points of need. In that process, we had a school principal while we were visiting the school principals who were producing in Istanbul. May God give him long life, even though he has cancer, but he should protect himself, he came to school and made the biggest sacrifice for the production of masks from one of our schools. He was the manager of one of them. We experienced an earthquake on February 6. An earthquake of a scale and intensity that our country has never experienced before. When the cries of ‘help’ came from there, our teachers went down to the field and cooked food without waiting for the Ministry’s assignment. They brought 2 million meals a day to our citizens, produced 1.8 million breads. . They produced tents, they produced the parts of the tent. They sorted out the aid. I stayed in Malatya for 2 months during the earthquake. I saw the teacher cleaning the toilet. In education, they showed all kinds of sacrifices related to education.”
“We will meet with students once a month”
prof. Dr. Nabi Avcı, on the other hand, noted that he used libraries in schools during his student years.
Stating that he will meet with the students in the library that has been opened, Avcı said, “When our Minister gave me such good news, he said, ‘But we have one condition. We expect you to meet with our students once a month and have conversations about books and culture.’ I was already waiting for the opening so that we could start our conversations as soon as possible. The summer vacation is starting in front of us, but I hope that in the coming period, if God gives health, we will have good conversations, meetings, good meetings with our teachers and students.” said.
After the speeches, while the ribbon was cut, Minister Özer presented a hand-embroidered calligraphy work to Avcı.
