Kerem, who works as a firefighter in the district on the Iraqi border, and his wife Medine Akı, who occasionally works as a master instructor at the Public Education Center, strive to prepare a good future for their children by taking care of all their needs.
The father, who works in the greenhouse he built in his garden and in his field after working hours, and the mother, who takes care of his cow and weaves rugs, support their children’s education process as much as they can.
Meryem, one of the children of the Aksi couple, who is an example to those around them with the importance they attach to education, is studying in the 3rd grade at Yüzüncü Yıl University’s Department of Music Teaching, Ruken is in the 4th grade at the Faculty of Medicine of the same university, and Hifzullah continues his education in the 3rd grade at Istanbul University Faculty of Pharmacy.
Munzur got 493 points in the Higher Education Institutions Examination this year and was accepted to Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Faculty of Medicine.
Elif, who graduated from high school last year, aims to enter the faculty of law, and Havin, a senior student at Van ISE Science High School, aims to enter the faculty of dentistry.
The youngest member of the family, 8th grade student Muhammet Şiyar, wants to continue his education in a good high school by being successful in his classes like his older sisters and older brothers.
“My children have never let us down”
Stating that he has been working as a firefighter for about 25 years, Kerem Akis said that his father said, “The most important thing to prevent ignorance is to read, you have to read.” He said that he gave great importance to the education of his children in his will.
Explaining that they did their best to ensure that their children continued their education with the support of his wife, and that they were all very determined, Stream continued as follows:
“Education runs on three legs: teacher, student, parent. Without one of these, education will not be productive. We are trying to run this triangle. My wife works day and night. She weaves rugs, she helps me in everything in the greenhouse and the field. She also contributes a lot. Family unity “It is a must. My children have never let us down so far. They are always trying to move forward with exemplary behavior. We are in the field, in the garden, at our workplace so that our children do not suffer. It is difficult to send children to school outside. Our only goal is for them to be useful people for the country and the nation.”
Hifzullah Aktif stated that he received great support from his parents during his education process and said, “My father and mother are with us in every sense. They stood behind us in every issue. We will continue to reward their efforts and we will not let them down. My other siblings also have high goals. The taste of success is different.” “There is nothing better than being rewarded for our efforts. We have a family that can set an example.” he said.
“When my sister got into medical school, I wanted to be a doctor too.”
Munzur Akis, who graduated from medical school, said that after her eldest sister got into the university, she continued to do so.
Stating that he achieved his goal after a difficult process, Stream said, “When my sister got into medical school, I wanted to become a doctor. Touching people makes me happy. My grandfather also wanted a doctor to be in the family. Our family did not cause any problems for us. My father leaves work and works in the fields and greenhouses. My mother “Likewise. There will be doctors, architects, pharmacists, judges, maybe prosecutors in our house. That’s why we are very happy.” he said.
Elif Stream, who is preparing for the university exam, pointed out that her sister’s success affected all her siblings and said, “My father sent us to Van because the opportunities in our district are a bit limited. I hope I can win and reach my goal. My mother and father work hard for us. I’m glad they exist. What they do “We can never pay for our labor.” said.
