District Director of National Education Fatih Kaba told reporters that 1 principal, 2 teachers and 33 students were lost in Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes.
Expressing their sadness for this reason, Kaba wished God’s mercy on those who lost their lives in the earthquakes and healing for the injured.
Noting that school buildings were also affected by the earthquake, Kaba said:
“9 of 98 schools in Afşin were heavily damaged and 6 of them were demolished. The demolition process of 3 of our schools continues. 2 of our schools are moderately damaged and the investigation process continues. In addition, our moderately damaged school buildings have been evacuated and work for demolition and reinforcement has begun. “44 of our schools are slightly damaged and 43 are undamaged. Repairs and renovations of our slightly damaged school buildings have been completed. For now, 87 of our school buildings will meet with our students in the new academic year.”
