Joint written exams can be held in schools

The Measurement and Evaluation Regulation of the Ministry of National Education came into force after being published in the Official Gazette.

According to the regulation regulating the principles regarding measurement and evaluation, an exam week will be implemented in schools. The dates of the exams will be announced at the beginning of the academic year.

To be announced on e-School

In schools; 1st semester 1st exams: Last week of October-first week of November, 1st semester 2nd exams: Last week of December-first week of January, 2nd semester 1st exams: Last week of March-first week of April , 2nd semester 2nd exams: It will be held between the last week of May and the first week of June. Exam dates will be announced by schools on e-School at the beginning of the academic year.

Joint written exams can be held

Joint written exams can be held across the country, province/district and school. Except for the practical exams, it will be essential that the exams of the courses taught in more than one branch be held jointly in order to allow teachers to make joint evaluations.

The questions of the common written exams to be held in schools will be prepared according to the subject question distribution table. The subject question distribution table will be created by the provincial class/field groups and the Measurement and Evaluation Center Directorate.

The Ministry will announce which classes and courses will have common exams at the beginning of the academic year. Joint written exams will be administered and evaluated by teachers in schools.

The district Board of National Education Directors will decide which classes and courses will be held jointly across the province/district.

All exams that are not held across the country, province/district will be held as common exams in schools.

There will be no common exams in vocational and technical secondary education institutions, classes where intensive education programs are applied, classes where students are sent to vocational education in enterprises and vocational training centers.

Game-based assessments

The academic and social development of students in pre-school and primary school 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades will be constantly monitored. The development levels of the students will be monitored with participation observation forms in individual and group activities carried out under the guidance of the teacher, game-based evaluations and measurement tools aimed at fulfilling the assigned tasks.

Thus, there will be no written exam time in the 4th grade of primary school. In 4th grades, student grades will be given according to the student development file.

There will be two exams for each course each semester.

Lessons will continue to be taught in schools during the exam week. There will be two exams from each course each semester. In the courses with a weekly course number of six or more, the third exam can be held if a decision is taken by the provincial class/area groups.

After each exam, exam analyzes will be carried out to determine the deficiencies of the students.

The situations of students with subject and achievement deficiencies will be re-evaluated by the course teacher and the classroom/field groups of the educational institution, and in-class make-up will be implemented.

Applied language exams

​​Turkish/Turkish language and literature and foreign language courses exams; It will be written and applied to measure listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

In primary schools, specially developed measurement tools will be used to monitor and develop students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in order to improve the correct and beautiful use of Turkish.

Short-term exams will be held, not graded.

Short-term exams can be held by teachers at the end of the unit/theme and/or subject to give feedback to the students. These exams will not be evaluated with grades.

The development status of the provinces in education will be monitored

With the monitoring and evaluation of academic skills (ABIDE), the level of students’ acquiring high-level thinking skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, reasoning, and commenting through real-life scenarios will be monitored and evaluated at the provincial level and compared according to years. ABIDE research will be carried out in two-year cycles and a special report will be prepared for each.

“School-based monitoring” research will be conducted

In order to protect and develop Turkish, the research, which monitors the development of students in listening, speaking, reading and writing skills acquired throughout the education process, will be conducted in two-year cycles and a country-wide report will be prepared.

A “school-based monitoring” research will be conducted in order to see the impact of the teaching programs on the academic outcomes of the students.

With this application, the knowledge and skills gained by students in specified courses at specified grade levels will be monitored and feedback will be given to students and teachers.

With the international monitoring researches PISA and TIMSS, the development of the country in education will be monitored at an international level.

“Assessment and evaluation centers” established within the General Directorate in the provinces will be made effective in order to increase the effectiveness of process-oriented measurement, in-class measurement and evaluation studies and to improve the qualifications of teachers.
