Minister Özer visited the container city established in the Technopark area in Malatya’s Bulgurlu District and toured the training containers.
Özer, who came together with the earthquake victims, solved questions and chatted with the children. Özer asked the students whether there were televisions in their containers and advised them to watch EBA TV when the televisions to be sent by their ministries arrived.
Asking whether they need students or not, Özer said that they do everything they can for the education of young people.
Özer said that after the visit, they took comprehensive decisions regarding the opening of schools after the earthquake and started education in 71 provinces on February 20.
Reminding that they restarted education in Kilis, Şanlıurfa and Diyarbakır on 6 March, and in Osmaniye, Adana and Gaziantep on 13 March, Özer stated that their work in Malatya, Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş and Hatay continues.
Emphasizing that from the first day of the earthquake, students have made an effort to continue their education under all conditions, Özer said that they continue to support students in prefabricated schools in tents and containers.
Pointing out that every environment where students and teachers meet is a school for them, Özer said:
“This school can be a tent, container or open space. Although education has been postponed until 27 March in Malatya, children continue their education at all levels from pre-school to high school. At the same time, support training courses for our students who will enter LGS, We also provide all kinds of support for our 12th grade students who will enter YKS, with support training courses, in order to prepare our children for the exam. In other words, we provide all kinds of support to save our children from that traumatic environment and meet with education as soon as possible, rather than curriculum-based education. “The most important support mechanism for education, psychosocial support and the psychological well-being of our children in this region. From the beginning, we follow the processes in coordination with all our governors, mayors and ministers regarding the rapid normalization of education.”
“One of the indicators of the normalization of life, the normalization of education”
Özer thanked the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change for their rapid support for the damage assessment of the schools in the region, and expressed that they are working with the understanding of continuing education safely in schools with sound reports.
Underlining that they have served to prevent the disruption of education by bringing containers from Van for children with great sacrifice, Özer said:
“I am very happy that all institutions and organizations support the normalization of our children by putting education at the center. We are very happy that especially Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar’s Mehmetçik Schools and 248 tents in 10 provinces support the education of our children from all levels. These periods are periods of unity. One of the main indicators of seeing the normalization of life is to see the normalization of education. It is very meaningful to bring containers for education services in the place where the huge family consisting of approximately 2150 containers in Teknokent is located. We work with all our devoted teachers in the field to bring education to our children regardless of whether the schools are open or not. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all my teachers who have been mobilized since the first day, who have worked devotedly, who have made great sacrifices to forget their own problems and reunite with their children and bring them together with education.”
Minister Mahmut Özer gave the following information about the studies carried out for the education of students:
“We continue to serve as tents and containers for 8th and 12th grades in pre-school, primary school, secondary school, high school and support training courses at 1783 points in 10 provinces. Of course, education has already started in 6 of these 10 provinces. We have 4 provinces left. By increasing the number of tents or containers available in our 4 provinces, we will give priority to grades 8 and 12. Because they have a serious exam in about 2 months, we support our children by reaching them as much as possible, including them in the system, and increasing these numbers. We will continue to be.”
