2023-YKS, where the number of candidates, which was 3 million 243 thousand 334 last year, has increased to over 3.5 million with 284 thousand 132 more applications this year, will be applied in a total of 228 exam centers, including TRNC Nicosia, on 17 and 18 June.
3 million 527 thousand 466 candidates will attend TYT, the first session of YKS to be held at 10:15 tomorrow. The exam will be applied in 11 thousand 477 buildings and 202 thousand 356 halls. 465 thousand 18 people will take part in the TYT session.
In TYT, candidates will be asked a total of 120 questions, 40 in the Turkish Test, 20 in the Social Sciences Test, 40 in the Basic Mathematics Test, and 20 in the Science Test, and will be given 165 minutes.
2 million 573 thousand candidates will attend AYT
2 million 573 thousand 156 candidates will attend the second session AYT, which will be held on Sunday, June 18 at 10:15. The exam will be held in 8 thousand 789 buildings and 150 thousand 140 halls. 345 thousand 898 people will work in AYT.
At AYT, candidates will be asked 40 questions in the Turkish Language and Literature-Social Sciences-1 Test, 40 questions in the Social Sciences-2 Test, 40 questions in the Mathematics Test, 40 questions in the Science Test and will be given 180 minutes.
In the third and last session YDT, which will take place on the same day at 15.45, 316 thousand 572 people from English, 13 thousand 774 from Arabic, 4 thousand 705 from German, 1745 from French and 1218 from Russian will take the exam. The exam will be applied in 1434 buildings and 16 thousand 811 halls. 49 thousand 108 people will take part in the last session of the exam. YDT will be applied in 5 languages, 80 questions will be asked and 120 minutes will be given.
YKS will be held for the first time in 22 exam centers
The doors will be closed 15 minutes before the exams, and the recruitment of candidates to the exam hall will be completed.
A total of 13 thousand 513 disabled candidates will enter the TYT in single and collective halls created according to disability groups. 9 thousand 528 disabled candidates will participate in AYT and 1,165 disabled candidates in YDT.
In 2023 YKS for disabled candidates, a total of 10 thousand 103 readers and markers will serve in three sessions.
Transportation and accommodation support was provided to earthquake survivor candidates who will take the exam outside the exam center where they reside.
This year, YKS will be held for the first time in 22 exam centers. The youngest candidate applying to 2023-YKS is 15 years old and the oldest candidate is 89 years old.
Reminders to candidates
Candidates are required to bring their exam entrance documents, identity card with photo or Turkish Republic ID card with photo when coming to the exam.
Candidates who do not have a photo in their identity card should go to the civil registration offices and get a new identity card with a photo in order not to be a victim. Provincial or district population directorates will be open on exam days for candidates who have lost their Turkish identity card, identity card on the day of the exam, or who do not have a photograph or Turkish ID number in their identity card.
25 percent additional quota for earthquake survivors at state universities in their provinces
The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) will make a new application in YKS placements for students affected by the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake this year.
In this context, an additional 25 percent quota was allocated to the candidates residing in the provinces affected by the earthquake while they were placed in the universities in their own cities, without any reduction in the general quota.
Accordingly, candidates residing in the cities covered by the State of Emergency and in the Gürün district of Sivas as of February 6, 2023, will be given additional quotas in addition to the general quota of programs that accept students through central placement at state universities in their own provinces.
These universities are Adana Alparslan Türkeş Science and Technology, Adıyaman, Çukurova, Dicle, Fırat, Gaziantep, Gaziantep Islam Science and Technology, Harran, Hatay Mustafa Kemal, İnönü, İskenderun Teknik, Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam, Kahramanmaraş Istiklal, Kilis 7 December, Malatya Turgut. It is listed as Özal and Osmaniye Korkut Ata universities.
On the other hand, 1 quota will be allocated for each of the earthquake-affected YKS candidates, excluding the obligation to teach 15 percent scholarship students stipulated in the Law No.
In case of enrolling in this quota allocated in central placement, a discounted or paid quota will be added to the program by taking the preference of the university during the additional placement as well as the registered quota.
Special quota for women over 34 at state universities
In addition, as of January 1, 2023, a special application will be implemented for YKS for women who have completed the age of 34.
In this context, a quota for women over the age of 34 has been allocated in associate degree and undergraduate programs of state universities that accept students through central placement.
Women who have not graduated from any undergraduate program before will benefit from this right.
Those who have previously graduated from an associate degree program will be able to choose the quotas reserved for undergraduate programs only.
