Additional placements will be made in accordance with the rules specified in the 2023 Higher Education Institutions Exam Guide, 2023-YKS Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide and 2023-YKS Higher Education Programs Supplementary Placement Guide.
Those who cannot get into any program will be able to make a choice
According to the guide, additional placement quotas consist of the quotas left vacant at the end of the 2023-YKS central placement and the quotas vacated due to the non-registration of candidates who gained the right to register with the 2023-YKS central placement.
In order to make a choice in the 2023-YKS additional placement, the candidates’ 2023-YKS placement scores must be calculated. Candidates will be able to make as many choices as they want, not exceeding 24, from the tables in which they have the right to choose.
While placing into additional placement quotas, the principles and rules regarding physically disabled people and graduates of high schools that implement a vocational program in the guides will also be valid for additional placement. Therefore, candidates need to re-examine the relevant guidelines.
Candidates who have been placed in a higher education program in the 2023-YKS central placement will not have the right to make a choice in additional placement. In order to make a choice in additional placement, it will be necessary to not have been placed in any higher education program in the 2023-YKS central placement.
The additional placement fee of 50 lira can be deposited until 23.59 on September 18, 2023. The higher education program preferences of candidates who do not pay the additional placement fee will be deemed invalid and will not be taken into the placement process.
The associate degree programs in Table 3 and the undergraduate programs in Table 4, whose quotas are filled in central placement and have the lowest score, but have a quota gap due to the non-registration of a few of the placed candidates, have scores equal to or greater than the smallest score of the program in the score type of the relevant program. All candidates whose quotas are not full and whose minimum score has been calculated will be able to choose programs whose relevant placement score has been calculated.
The quotas reserved for earthquake victims, women over the age of 34, martyrs’ spouses and children, veteran spouses and children, and veteran candidates are also shown in the relevant columns of Table-3 and Table-4. Candidates who are entitled to benefit from these quotas must have a score equal to or greater than the smallest score of the program’s relevant quota.
Candidates who have been placed in a higher education program through a special talent exam in 2023-YKS will also be able to choose for additional placement.

Candidate quotas for earthquake victims
Due to the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023, the 2023-YKS center will be closed for candidates residing in the provinces of Adana, Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, Şanlıurfa and Gürün district of Sivas. Quotas were allocated for programs that accept students through placement.
As of this date, although the residence information is outside the province or district affected by the earthquake, candidates who are studying in the last year of secondary education in this province or district will also be able to benefit from the earthquake victim candidate quota because they are candidates affected by the earthquake.
In the placement process, the records of candidates in this situation in the MEB e-School system will be taken as basis.
Quotas for women over 34 years of age
As of January 1, 2023, the “Women Over 34” quota, which is opened for women over 34 years of age, is available in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, engineering, architecture, law and teaching, as well as aviation electricity and electronics, aviation management, maritime business management, aircraft, where success ranking is required. Maintenance and repair, aircraft electrical and electronics, aircraft body and engine maintenance are included in programs other than pilotage programs.
Those who have previously graduated from any undergraduate program will not be able to benefit from the mentioned quotas, and even if they prefer, they will not be placed in these quotas.
Those who have previously graduated from an associate degree program will be able to choose the quotas reserved only for undergraduate programs.
Those who were placed in a higher education program by taking advantage of the quota reserved for women over the age of 34 in the 2023 YKS registration process, and those who were determined to have graduated from any undergraduate program, and those who were determined to have graduated from an associate degree program for those who were placed in associate degree programs will not be registered by the relevant higher education institution.
Quota for martyrs’ spouses and children, veteran spouses and children, and veteran candidates
There is a scholarship student quota in foundation higher education institutions for the spouses and children of the martyrs, the spouses and children of the veterans, and the veteran candidates. The Social Security Institution will check whether the applicants are within the scope of the laws specified in the guide by OSYM.
